Sahand Hajimirza

Physical volcanology, Geological fluid dynamics

I am a postdoctoral scholar in the department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Rice University. I finished my graduate studies in May 2020 with a Ph.D. degree in Earth Science from Rice University under the supervision of Professor Helge Gonnermann.

The focus of my research is magmatic and hydrothermal processes that initiate and drive volcanic and hydrothermal eruptions. My research interests include magma dynamics, magma vesiculation, geological fluid dynamics and hydrothermal explosions.
